You can find the drivetrain parts we produce in accordance with the Ebro brand, which was established to produce original British designed Ford trucks, and information about the history of the Ebro brand in our article.

Ebro

Ebro's predecessor is a company founded in Spain in 1920 under the name Ford Motor Co SAE. In 1929 the company changed its name to Ford Motor Ibérica SA. In the period up to the Second World War, buses, cars, trucks and tractors belonging to the Ford series were assembled and sold at the same time in Spain under the Ford brand. Therefore, the parent company of Ebro trucks is considered to be Motor Ibérica

In the late 1960s and early 1970s, the company took over four Spanish light vehicle manufacturers. Purchased vehicle manufacturers are:

  • Aisa (Avia trucks),
  • Siata (Minivans made from SEAT)
  • Fadisa (Alfa Romeo vans),
  • Vias (Various Jeep 4x4s and Forward Control utility vehicles)

Ebro also took over the Spanish branch of Perkins engines.

At the same time, Ebro entered the agricultural tractor market with a license agreement with Massey-Ferguson. In this way, Motor became the main shareholder of Ibérica.

At the end of 1979, due to the economic crisis, Massey Ferguson sold its 33% stake to Nissan, which was looking for a production site in Europe. In 1981, the agricultural machinery division was sold to Kubota. Today, it continues its activities under the name of Ebro - Kubota. In addition, Nissan increased its stake to 55%. In 1986 Nissan acquired Ebro Motor Ibérica. In 1987, the company's name was changed to Nissan Motor Ibérica.

In our factory, drivetrain parts are produced in accordance with the Ebro brand.

What Are Drivetrain Parts?

  • Differential
  • Clutch
  • Shaft
  • Axle
  • Gearbox
  • Wheels

What is Differential?

The differential transmits the movement of the engine to the wheels, and the movement from the gearbox to the axles. At the same time, it ensures a safe driving by enabling the wheels to rotate at different speeds in the corner.

What is a Clutch?

It provides the opportunity to change gears in the vehicle. It transmits the movement in the engine to the gearbox or disconnects it from the gearbox. Therefore, the clutch is located between the engine and the gearbox.

What is Shaft?

It is the organ that transfers the power generated in the engine and reaching the gearbox to the differential. It is designed as a moving part because the transmission is fixed and the vehicle does not move on a straight road all the time. In this way, the connection points allow the part to move. At the same time, it is produced from hollow steel so that it does not make weight.

What is Axle?

The axle in the driveline transmits the movement from the differential to the wheels. In this way, the vehicle starts to move. The axle comes in different types depending on the class of the vehicle to be used. Axle types;

  • Fully Free Floating Axle Shaft: While other types of axles are related to the load, the fully free floating axle shaft transmits the rotation movement from the differential to the wheel.
  • Half Free Axle: Used in some cars, rear axles of 4x4 models and pickup trucks.
  • Three Quarter Free Axle Shaft: The tip is tapered. It is used as bolted to the wheel.

What is Gearbox?

The gearbox, located between the drivetrain, allows the speed and torque of the vehicle to be adjusted. The gearbox allows the vehicle to move forward or backward.

What are the Wheels / Tires?

The task of the wheels is to increase the braking performance of the vehicle. The numbers on them indicate the size of the tires. Tires should be checked regularly for a safe ride.

Things to consider in the use and maintenance of tires;

  • Tires must be checked before getting on the vehicle.
  • While checking the tire, the air pressure, tread depth and at the same time whether it is damaged or not should be checked.
  • If the air in the tires is too high; the middle part of the tires is worn and there are also vibrations. Therefore, driving comfort is reduced.
  • If the tire air pressure is low, the tire edges wear out quickly. It also causes an increase in fuel consumption. It also threatens driving safety as it causes the steering wheel to turn difficult.
  • If the tires located between the driveline are old and worn, it increases the risk of accident, especially in rainy weather.
  • If one of the tires of the vehicle is old and the other is new, or if the tire pressures are different from each other, the vehicle pulls to one side. Therefore, it also causes a decrease in driving comfort.
