About Fordson

Fordson was established as a tractor and truck brand. The mentioned brand has been used in mass production general purpose tractors by the following brands:

  • By Henry Ford & Son Inc. from 1917 to 1920,
  • By Ford Motor Company (USA) and Ford Motor Company Ltd (England) from 1920 to 1928,
  • By Ford Motor Company Ltd (England) from 1929 to 1964

After 1964 the Fordson name was removed and all tractors belonging to the brand were named and labeled Ford in both the US and the UK.

Between 1917-1925 and 1956-1953, Ford dominated the tractor market, but never had a market on its own.

From 1917 to 1928, it is the only automotive company that sells cars, tractors and trucks simultaneously under its brand name.

During the years between 1928 and 1939, Ford of the USA stopped producing tractors. During this time the UK continued to manufacture Fordsons and also sell them widely, developing new variants.

Fordson USA re-entered the US tractor market in 1939 with an entirely new model and the Ford brand. England continued to use Fordson until 1964.

What is a Fuel Tank?

The tanks used to provide the fuel needed for the operation of the vehicles are called fuel tanks. The fuel tank ensures that the fuel is stored safely in the vehicle. They are usually made of plastic or metal material.

Should You Replace the Fuel Tank?

The fuel tank, like other parts of the vehicle, must be replaced for safety in case of any malfunction. Because the fuels used in vehicles are flammable materials. Therefore, it should be stored in safe and appropriate areas. Therefore, if you suspect any malfunction or problem, you should definitely have it checked and, if necessary, have it repaired or replaced.

Fuel Tank Considerations

  • The fuel tank is a system that needs to be ventilated. The situations in which it cannot get air are called vacuum formation. This situation usually occurs in gasoline vehicles. A vacuum is created in the tank and this vacuum causes the inside of the tank to collapse and its structure to deteriorate. It also impairs the function of the fuel pump.
  • There is a risk of puncturing the fuel tanks. Therefore, as a result of this puncture, fuel leaks occur and threaten safety. When tanks are punctured, they usually cannot be repaired and must be replaced. Fuel tanks burst not by themselves, but in the event of an accident or impact.
  • There is an expansion chamber in the fuel tanks. This chamber ensures that the fuel is fully filled into the tank. A pressure build-up in the fuel tank prevents fuel from filling the tank. In such a case, the expansion chamber should be checked and, if necessary, repaired.
